Anna Fermin's Trigger Gospel is a Chicago-based Americana band celebrating almost 30 years together. With six critically acclaimed releases, tours across the U.S. and Europe, and a history that includes sharing the stage with Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, David Crosby, and Neko Case — plus a goat carcass in a cooler and their drummer left at a New Jersey rest stop — they've earned every note. Anna Fermin leads the band she founded in 1997 alongside drummer Paul Bivans, bassist Michael Krayniak, and lead guitarist Andon Davis. Alton Smith rounds out the sound on keyboard and accordion, and more recently Tom Kneesel brings a warm pedal-steel shimmer that has become a defining color of the band's recent work.
